Everything you need to know about our standards, our teams, and how we work.
We provide our own equipment, supplies, and cleaning products. In most homes, we use HEPA-filtered vacuums, microfiber and detail cloths, Swiffer-style mops where appropriate, and Certified Green products for the overwhelming majority of our visits, approximately 95% of the time. We choose products that are effective, safer for families and pets, and better for indoor air quality.
The honest answer about the other 5%?: there are surfaces and situations where a conventional product genuinely does a better job and is the right choice for the home. We’ll tell you when that’s the case. We’ve found that this kind of transparency builds more trust than a blanket ‘we’re 100% claim that doesn’t hold up on closer inspection.
Cooperative Cleaning typically works in teams of three. Decades of experience, especially in larger homes, have taught us that this model allows us to work thoroughly while minimizing the amount of time we spend in your home.
There is also a practical advantage to true teamwork. A well-trained three-person team can move through a home more efficiently and systematically than one person working alone for the same total number of person hours. Our teams work through the home in an organized sequence, generally from top to bottom and room to room, with each person understanding their role.
We provide all equipment and supplies, so you do not need to stock products or prepare anything special before we arrive.
Every team member is a W-2 employee of The Cooperative Cleaning Company, not a contractor, referral worker, or gig worker. Teams arrive in company-owned Toyota RAV4s, and employees are paid from the moment they arrive at our facility until the moment they return.
The honest answer is: what matters in your home.
Before your first visit, we take time to understand how your home is used, what has been missed by other services, and what your priorities are. From that conversation, we build a custom Service Plan specific to your home.
We do not begin with a narrow checklist and treat every reasonable request outside it as an add-on. If something belongs in the regular care of your home, we discuss it, document it, and build it into the plan from the start.
We send new clients a one-page starter checklist to help guide the conversation, but it is only a starting point. If we tried to list everything we attend to across all of our clients’ homes, it would run for pages. The plan we build with you is the one that matters.
If you are not satisfied with a visit, contact us within 24 hours and we will return to re-clean the areas of concern at no charge.
If you are still not satisfied after we return, we will refund the full fee. We have honored this guarantee since 1987 and have never tried to argue our way out of it.
Since 2012, when we strengthened the policy to include both a no-charge re-clean and a full refund if requested, only one client has asked us to apply it.
We think that record says more than any promise we could make.
We ask for 3 business days’ notice to cancel or reschedule a visit without a charge.
Cancellations with less notice, and lock-outs where the team arrives and cannot access the home, may be subject to a cancellation fee. This helps us protect the schedules and paid time of the employees assigned to your visit.
We understand that life happens. If something genuinely unexpected comes up, a conversation usually resolves it.
Yes, with rare exceptions. Our recurring clients experience a 90–95% same-team rate.
When a team member is ill or an unavoidable schedule change occurs, we notify you in advance and ensure the team covering your home has been fully briefed on your preferences, priorities, and Service Plan.
Because every client has written records the details do not depend on memory alone.
We cannot promise exact arrival times, but we do our best to accommodate scheduling preferences whenever possible.
Because our W-2 employee teams visit multiple homes each day, arrival windows are the practical way to keep the schedule reliable. We typically offer an AM window, usually 9 AM-12 PM, or a PM window, usually 12 PM-4 PM. First AM appointments are available but tend to fill quickly.
The day before your scheduled visit, you will receive an estimated time of arrival by email, text, or phone.
We serve select communities in Southern Marin County and the East Bay.

In the East Bay, we serve Berkeley, Piedmont, the Oakland Hills, and Lamorinda, including Orinda, Lafayette, and Moraga.

The best place to start is with a conversation.
Call us at (510) 845-0003 for the East Bay or (628) 286-3700 for Marin. We will ask about your home, your schedule preferences, your priorities, and the service that makes the most sense to begin with.
Many new recurring clients begin with Bright White, our intensive deep cleaning service, so the team can establish a clear baseline before the recurring schedule begins. From there, your dedicated team maintains the home according to your custom Service Plan.
Gift cards are available for any service we offer. A Bright White deep clean can be a particularly thoughtful gift for a new home, a new baby, a bereavement, recovery from illness, or a milestone occasion.
Gift cards may be delivered digitally or by mail and are redeemed by calling us to schedule service.
Please contact us directly for current gift card options and denominations.
Because our operating model is different.
Many lower-cost services rely on independent contractors, referral arrangements, or gig-style labor. That can reduce the visible price, but it often comes with tradeoffs in training, oversight, insurance, accountability, benefits, and continuity.
Cooperative Cleaning is built differently. Every person who enters your home is a W-2 employee of our company. Our pricing reflects strong pay, workers’ compensation coverage, payroll taxes, unemployment & liability insurance, training, supervision, 80% company-paid Kaiser Platinum health coverage, Delta Dental and VSP vision plans, paid vacation, a 401(k) with a 4% employer match, and company-maintained late-model Toyota RAV4s.
Those choices are not incidental. They are part of the service. Stable, well-supported employees stay longer, know our standards, and bring greater consistency into the homes they serve.
The people who clean your home are not anonymous workers filling a slot. They are our employees, and we stand behind their work fully.
Yes. Every employee is background-checked before hire and covered by workers’ compensation and general liability insurance. Just as important, we are highly selective about who joins our team. Nearly all new hires come through internal employee referrals, which helps us preserve the standards, culture, and accountability our clients depend on. The Cooperative Cleaning Company has been in continuous operation since 1987. In 39 years, no bond claim has ever been filed against us. That is one of the clearest measures of the trust and care we bring into our clients’ homes.
